Whit attempts to find comfort in a pet.

“What about a cat?” Eugene told Whit. Whit was telling Eugene that he was looking a for a pet of some sort to take care of, and keep him busy while he was still in the market for children. “Adopting children takes a lot longer than I thought!” Whit had told him a few days prior. “I guess that is a option to consider, maybe I’ll go take a look this afternoon to view my options” Eugene nodded and responded “I believe that is a fabulous plan!”.

Whit carefully opened the door of the humane society, filled with hope of finding comfort in an animal of his choice. He started with looking at several different cats. “Hmm none of these… Stick”. Then he walked up to the next cage and gasped “Oh my goodness, it’s Sasha!” The cat that used to be owned by a very evil man named Regis was now sitting here in a humane society. This was a surprise to Whit, he supposed that the police department must have sent the cat here since Regis was dead.

“Excuse me, sir?” Whit walked up to a man who worked at the humane society. “How can I help you?” The man responded. “I would like to know where that cat came from over there, Sasha” Whit shrugged to Sasha in her cage. The employee explained that Sasha’s owner was no longer physically able to take care of it and that the cat was sent here, with little to no extra info.

After looking around the society for awhile it was clear to Whit that the only animal that brought interest to him was, Sasha. Sasha was a brown and white lazy little cat that would be perfect to have around. Whit also felt bad about the fact of how Sasha lost it’s owner so sudden.

After returning home with his newfound companion, Whit settled Sasha into her new environment. He set up a cozy bed by the window where she could bask in the sunlight and placed a bowl of water and food nearby. Sasha seemed a bit timid at first, understandably, given her recent circumstances.

Whit spent the next few days slowly earning Sasha’s trust, offering gentle pats and speaking to her softly. Gradually, Sasha started to warm up to Whit, showing signs of affection by rubbing against his leg and purring contentedly. It was a heartwarming sight for Whit, knowing that he was providing a loving home for a cat that had gone through so much.

As days turned into weeks, Sasha became a companion for Whit. She would curl up on his lap as he worked at Whit’s End, providing a sense of comfort and company. Eugene noticed the positive change in Whit’s demeanor and couldn’t help but comment one day.

“It seems Sasha has brought a lot of joy into your life, Whit,” Eugene remarked, smiling as Sasha nuzzled against Whit’s hand.

“She has indeed,” Whit replied with a gentle smile. “It’s remarkable how much happiness and comfort a little cat can bring.”

Sasha’s presence filled the void in Whit’s life, providing companionship and easing his longing for children. And in return, Whit gave Sasha a safe and loving home where she could thrive.

In time, as Sasha settled further into her new life with Whit, they formed an unbreakable bond—a testament to the power of love and companionship between a man and his feline friend in the quaint town of Odyssey.
