Epilogue – It’s Happening To Everyone

Happy Halloween everyone! Enjoy this little epilogue I wrote for my previous story “The Barclays Never Left Odyssey.”

Whit jolted awake, his breath coming faster than ever before. The dream he had just experienced was utterly terrifying. As the memories began to fade, his frantic breathing gradually calmed. He looked around his room, confused; he didn’t remember falling asleep, and now the vivid details of the nightmare that had left him wanting to scream slipped from his mind.

Determined to recall the dream, Whit thought long and hard but couldn’t grasp any specifics. He sank onto his couch and turned on the TV, hoping for distraction.

….

Connie hadn’t heard from Whit in days, and her concern was growing. Deciding to pay him a visit, she knocked on his door. When no one answered, she retrieved her emergency key and unlocked it. What she saw inside shocked her.

Whit looked disheveled, his hair a chaotic mess, his eyes distant and unfocused, and his lips twisted into an unsettling, half-hearted smile. But what disturbed Connie even more was the image on the TV. It emitted a low, groaning sound, displaying only a large logo with the words “MindLink” beneath it. Then everything happened in a blur.

Suddenly, someone approached from behind her, swiftly binding her to a chair in front of Mr. Whittaker. She screamed and struggled against her captor, but her efforts were in vain. As her eyes locked with Whit’s, everything went dark.

“It’s happening to everyone,” said the man behind her.
